Until in 1994, Michael Jordan decided to retire from NBA. His decision was shaped by the murder of his father in 1993. Instead of returning to NBA the next year, he decided to play professional baseball as a tribute to his late father who always dreamed of him being a Major League baseball player. One of the teams he played during his baseball stint was the Birmingham Barons. After his first retirement, it was supposedly also the end of the Air Jordan series. But Tinker Hatfield insisted on continuing his designs for new Air Jordans. He believed that Jordan was not yet done with basketball. If not for him, we probably do not have Jordans anymore. True enough, Jordan returned to NBA in 1995 and won three straight championships from 1996-1998.
